Whittemore Enterprises, Inc. has been selling quality endoscopes since 1983. Throughout the years we have had the opportunity to speak with many experts in this field.

The Instrument of choice for small animal endoscopy is definately the "Pediatric" or Slim Gastroscope. The smaller diameter scopes are essential to the small animal endoscopist especially for use in cats and small dogs (under 20 lbs.) These flexible scopes range from approximately 8mm – 10mm in diameter (the ideal diameter is 8mm – 9mm). They are approximately 1 meter (100cm) long and have four (4) way angulation. They also have biopsy channels which are approximately 2.0mm – 2.8mm in diameter. All scopes have air insufflation, suction and irrigation capability, (A must for all G.I. Procedures).

These scopes provide maximum versatility. They are slim enough to pass through the pyloric canal of a cat or small dog and still long enough to perform the same procedure for your larger breeds up to Rotweilers and German Shepherds. This procedure is essential as biopsies of the duodenum are frequently necessary.

The following scopes are not as commonly used in human medicine making their availability in the used market limited but not impossible to locate.

Olympus PC-F Pediatric Colonoscope (great for equine and large dogs) - 11.3mm diameter, 133cm length, 2.8mm channel and 4-way angulation.
- Similar models are Olympus PCF-10* and PCF-20* which are immersible.
Olympus GIF-XP10* and GIF-XP20* Gastroscope (slimmest gastroscopes made) - 7.9mm diameter, 103cm length, 2.0mm channel and 4-way angulation, fully immersible.
Olympus GIF-PQ20 Gastroscope* (slimmest scope with 2.8 channel) - 9.0mm diameter, 2.8mm channel, and 103cm working length.
Pricing on all Flexible Scopes will be based on model, age, and condition of the instrument. Keep in mind, Whittemore Enterprises, Inc. can provide you with the current model scope in new condition at half the cost of new or less, or older models at even more savings. So make Whittemore Enterprises, Inc. your choice for all your endoscopy needs
.

One of the major disadvantages to fiber scopes is broken or damaged fibers. If this concerns you we highly recomend a video scope.
