WHITTEMORE TPLO SAW for Tibial-Plateau-Leveling Osteotomy

The Whittemore pneumatic TPLO saw is our most popular seller. When Dr. Barclay Slocum began developing his procedure, we started getting requests for used TPLO saw options, and came up with quite a few designs based on older saw models. These used options for TPLO would get the job done, but fell short when it came to power, so we decided to develop and manufacture our own TPLO saw.

Power was a key requirement when using the Slocum TPLO saw blade. It was a bi-radial design, and without a powerful saw the blade would jump all over the bone before biting into it. Therefore, we produced an extremely powerful TPLO saw to facilitate making the cut as quickly and easily as possible. We determined the bi-radial blade design was unnecessary, and introduced a simple crescent-shaped blade which is superior in starting and making cuts.

The Whittemore TPLO saw is the most powerful saw available. In order to develop the unique boot design we collaborated with a number of veterinary surgeons that specialized in TPLO procedures. The angle of the cut is easily performed with a solid grip on the saw body, and is preferred by experts as the best way to approach the procedure.

Our TPLO saw blade system is based on replaceable blades that do not require sharpening. We designed one hub to fit three sizes of TPLO blades, small (18mm), medium (24mm), and large (30mm). Our blades will last for at least 15 cases, according to feedback from users, before needing to be replaced.

Due to popular demand, we have recently released a Whittemore battery driven TPLO saw. This saw is not the same design as the pneumatic TPLO saw, but we’ve seen so many competitors developing a pistol grip system that we decided to release one as well.

The big advantage of this battery operated system is that it is modular. Attachments for a number of other procedures can be added for drilling, driving pins for placing a TPLO jig, as well as an attachment for other saw blades to perform FHO (Femoral Hip Osteotomy),TPO (Triple Pelvic Osteotomy), and MPL (Medial Patellar Luxation). All of this with just one driver hand piece. What’s more important is that we’ve kept it priced around the same as our pneumatic TPLO saw.
