DEFIBRILLATORS

Whether you are looking for a basic functional defibrillator or a state-of-the-art, current series model, we can help.

Every defibrillator we sell has been certified by a qualified biomedical technician to operate according to the original manufacturer's specifications.

We offer AED defibrillators (Automated External Defibrillator), which automatically detect cardiac arrhythmias, ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia through the paddles.

Monophasic defibrillators - until recently, most defibrillation shocks were delivered by paddles placed on the patient's chest, and the current traveled in one direction through the heart (monophasic waveform). Now most shocks are delivered through electrodes, placed directly on the patient's skin. Because they conform to the chest, they are safer for rescuers and are generally able to deliver current more effectively.

Biphasic defibrillators - in the past 10 years or so, there has been a move to the use of biphasic waveform to deliver current to the heart. With this two-vector approach, the peak current required to convert the arrhythmia is reduced, the efficacy of the shock is greatly enhanced, and the myocardial damage resulting from the shock itself is lessened.

Paddles and pads

Biphasic defibrillators come set up to accept disposable electrodes or pads in both adult and child types. (Disposable pads are not included.)

Permanent paddles are optional on the newer biphasic defibrillators.

Monophasic defibrillators come with adult-sized permanent paddles as standard. Some have both adult- and child-sized paddles built in.

Internal paddles are available for most models; discuss with your sales representative the configuration you require.
